Baseball Cupcakes

Want to transform your little slugger’s next birthday party into a Grand Slam celebration? Hit a home run with these simple to make birthday cupcakes:

  1. Frost cupcakes with a smooth layer of white butter cream icing. Let cupcakes set for 30 minutes or until they form a light crust before starting the next step.
  2. Place a paper towel on top of the cupcake and smooth gently with your fingertips, taking care not to leave impressions or fingerprints.
  3. Use squeezable or piped-on red icing to add backward C’s for the baseball’s seams.
  4. Finish by adding “V” stitches to the seams, drawing one side right-side up and the other upside down.

Make baseball cupcakes using your favorite cake recipe, or use the simple recipe below to make creamy vanilla cupcakes:

1 cup sugar

½ cup butter, softened

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ¾ tsp baking powder

½ cup milk

Baseball Cupcakes 3 Baseball CupcakesPreheat oven to 350 F. Cream together butter and sugar, and then add eggs one at a time. Add dry ingredients and mix well, then stir in milk and vanilla. Spoon batter into lined cupcake tins, filling three quarters full, and bake 20-25 minutes.

For added fun, place baseball cupcakes on top of glove cookies. To make glove cookies, roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough 1/8” thick and use a hand=shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Bake until golden brown and frost with chocolate icing.Baseball Cupcakes 2 Baseball Cupcakes
